Projects

Campus Linux Services produces many small Linux related projects. Hopefully, some of these will be of use to the outside world. Hopefully, I can get some of them posted here as well. These projects are specifically for doing something Linux-ish by the Linux-ish people at NCSU.

Web-Kickstart

The Web-Kickstart project aims to make installing Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Fedora Core, and other Red Hat style distributions completely automated that is scalable to large institutions. Installs are identical, automated, reproducible, and very flexible.

Realm Linux

Let's not forget to mention Realm Linux. This is NCSU's distribution based off of Red Hat Enterprise Linux or Fedora Core that seamlessly integrates Linux into our computing environment. This includes such things as custom management of clients, OpenAFS, kerberos, hesiod, special configuration, etc. This project is open to hacking to students, faculty, staff, and anyone else.

OpenAFS RPMs

For Realm Linux we maintain our own OpenAFS Packages that other folks have found useful. Current documentation and spec files are here. These packages follow the FSH and are designed for Fedora Core and Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
