Offical Support

Supported Installs

As all products mature a days comes when "support" must be defined and what must be done so that systems are supportable. Very simply, those that use Realm Linux must participate in the infrastructure so that security updates, scripts, passwords, and kickstarts are of a sane nature and so that the environment can be reproduced and controled.

Offical support at this point in time is available from Campus Linux Services to those that meet the following criteria. In other cases, we do try to support and help everyone. However, support to those that meet the support criteria will be at a much higher priority.

To qualify for support your Realm Linux machine must meet the following criteria:

  • Running a supported version of Realm Linux
  • Installed via Web-Kickstart
  • Has Support Eligibility enabled in RealmConfig (the default for Web-Kickstart)
  • Running Realm Hooks (defaults to on)
  • Retrieving and applying all available updates/errata
Realm Linux machines that meet the above will be listed on the Supported Realm Linux Machines page. There is about a 4 hour delay between installation and when the machine will appear in the list. This page is generated automatically when clients register to recieve password and user list updates. Support for machines that do not qualify will be given as time is available.
